This Week in NJ

Vegan in NJ has started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up tiers as time goes on, but for right now, you will just get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future. This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be!

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

Vegan in NJ is raising money through Crowdrise for Skylands Animal Sanctuary. You are also able to donate in person at the February 17 NJ VegFest vegan pop up in Asbury Park. We will have a table, where we will be signing people up for the 5k at the Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival in July (the reason for the fundraiser!) and hoping people join the Vegan in NJ team! We also now have some shirts available with our official design (thanks Lisette!) available on Teespring!

This Saturday is our very first vegan market! We have seven amazing vendors ready for you to gift some goodies to that special someone (even if that special someone is you - because you are special af and you damn well deserve some goodies!). There will also be a vegan singles meetup at 4pm. You'll easily be able to identify other singles who are looking to mingle based on their name tag! Come join us at The Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park for Label V Day: A Vegan Market on Saturday! Some of my favorite things from our vendors are the CBD chocolate from Chocolate Calling, the traditional baklava from The Baklava Lady, the Vegan shirt by Teeminder, and the Root to Rise Tree of Life Agate Necklace from Whimsical Witch. We will also have Mollie Mack's Vegan Cakery by Cafe Diem, Stay Lit Candles, and BethKaya selling their amazing goods!

Vegan Shop-Up is also hosting a Valentine's Day market on Saturday at Pine Box Rocks Shop in Brooklyn. You can find vendors like Fanciful Fox, Sweet Maresa's, Riverdel, Anthony's East Side, and more! This is year NINTH annual Valentine's Day event and we can't wait to see how many more are to come!

This next week is full of Valentine's themed events and you can always head over to our events calendar to read about them ahead of time, but this weekend ends with a Vegan Valentine's Pop Up Event in Brooklyn. The Black Theory and Veggie Grub are throwing this event at the New Women Space and your $5 RSVP includes a free glass of wine! They have some great vendors like Freakin' Vegan, Fanciful Fox, Veggie Grub (of course), Vegan Brooklyn Foodie, and many more!

The Queens, NY chapter of Anonymous for the Voiceless is hosting a Cube of Truth at the Roosevelt Ave/Jackson Heights Subway stop on Sunday. Dress in all black, bring a fully charged laptop or tablet filled with the required footage (can be found in the description of both the event and in any AV Facebook group).

NJ Animal Save Movement is teaming up with Protest Canada Goose NJ on Sunday for a protest outside of Canada Goose in Short Hills Mall. Canada Goose has been very outspoken about how they "ethically source" their down, fur, wool and shearling, but there is no ethical way to take someone's skin. Including animal skin and fur in clothing is just not needed in today's age with all the other options that we have that do not involve skinning and killing an animal. Please buy your clothing from an ethical vegan source.

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at foodnotbombsjc@gmail.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view private events):

3/24 A Vegan Weekend with Avenue: Vegan Market (coming soon!)

4/6 Vegan in NJ Dinner Party (coming soon!)

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line! They also now have an app in the App Store or on Google Play!
