This Week in NJ

Vegan in NJ has started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up tiers as time goes on, but for right now, you will just get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future. This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be!

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

Vegan in NJ is raising money through Crowdrise for Skylands Animal Sanctuary. You are also able to donate in person at the February 17 NJ VegFest vegan pop up in Asbury Park. We will have a table, where we will be signing people up for the 5k at the Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival in July (the reason for the fundraiser!) and hoping people join the Vegan in NJ team!

Newark Animal Save (a chapter of The Save Movement) will be hosting a vigil and outreach at the American Halal slaughterhouse on Raymond Blvd on Thursday morning. They will bear witness to the animals coming in for slaughter and give them their last moments of kindness before their lives are over. Before and after bearing witness, they will do outreach to the surrounding neighborhood and after will be a vigil, remembering the lives lost to American Halal.

Governor Phil Murphy signed Nosey's Law S1023/A1923 into law on December 14th and Save Nosey Now is throwing a bit of a party to celebrate! Head into Trenton on Thursday and celebrate with those who had a hand in getting this law signed, including legislators . You can also learn more about a documentary named 'Broken' which will be exposing the lives of circus animals.

Ube Kitchen in NYC is hosting an all vegan Filipino Kamayan Feast on Friday. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. You can find the menu and details about the feast on their Facebook event page!

Vegan Shop Up in Brooklyn is at it again on Saturday with a vegan market at Pine Box Rocks Shop! You can see the full vendor lineup here, but a few of my favorites things are are the shawarma from The Vegan Shawarma, the candles and lip balms from Fanciful Fox, the cookies and cream from How Delish, and the traditional baklava from The Baklava Lady.

If you're looking for back to back eats on Sunday, you can definitely do it with a Vegan in NJ meetup at Heart Beet Kitchen, which is an all vegan and gluten free restaurant in Westmont at 11am and then right to an NJveg meetup at Freshii, a chain restaurant that specializes in healthier foods, sustainability (their packaging is biodegradable and made from potato/corn resin), and providing healthy, affordable, and convenient food the world over, in Flemington at 2pm!

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view private events):

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line! They also now have an app in the App Store or on Google Play!
