This Week in NJ

Vegan in NJ has started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up tiers as time goes on, but for right now, you will just get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future. This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be!

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

I don't know if you noticed, but we added a few new things to the website! First off, there's a holiday recipes section and we would love it if you submitted some of your favorites so we can spread the word. They can be your own recipe, off your own blog, someone else's blog, something you found on Pinterest, or a recipe you veganized that was handed down from your great grandma. Whatever you can send, send it away! We have also revamped our restaurants listing into a vegan friendly restaurants map. All vendors/food trucks have been added to their own page, since they are without a physical location for the map. Now onto the events!

In less than 24 hours, Desired Dish and Cross + Orange are hosting a vegan holiday cocktail party and bazaar with cocktails, appetizers, desserts, and shopping! There will be a few vendors there, including Wuxly, Vegan Outreach, Whimsical Witch, Hungry Hippie Eats, and more!

On Wednesday, there will be a gourmet vegan dinner hosted at Vaulted Cuisine at Burlington College by NJveg. Tickets are almost sold out (quite possibly sold out) at the time that I am writing this, so if you are interested in attending this dinner, please email njveg.org@gmail.com as soon as possible. The dinner will include a shaved brussels sprout salad, vegetable soup, pappardelle ragu, and a dessert trio consisting of cake, ice cream, and crème brulee.

Homemade Betty is an all vegan, cruelty free, organic, natural ingredients skincare line that uses simple, but effective ingredients. They are putting on a holiday party and class on Thursday in North Brunswick, where you can create your own organic bath soak, organic room spray, and/or organic face steams. You will be able to take 3 products home (of your own choosing - one of each or three of one, whatever you want!). She will also educate on herbs and flowers that keep our bodies healthy. This event is sold out, so make sure you're following Homemade Betty via social media or her mailing list to keep an eye out for the next event she will be at or is hosting!

There will be a protest outside of Canada Goose in The Mall at Short Hills on Friday. Please follow Protest Canada Goose on Facebook to keep up with their events. Next Saturday, they will be doing another protest for Canada Goose, but will also include Prada.

At Pine Box Rock Shop in Brooklyn, you can find a Vegan Shop-Up happening Saturday! There will be some amazing vendors there like The Baklava Lady, Vegan Shawarma, Fanciful Fox, Filfil Foods, Yeah Dawg, and more listed on their website.

Rockin Raw is hosting a pizza prep party in Jersey City on Saturday, in which you will learn how to create your own raw pizza! You will go step by step, receive the recipes to take home, along with your own pizza! Tickets are $40 and RSVP is required by emailing contact@rockinraw.com.

On Sunday, we are hosting a potluck in Neptune! Yes, "we" as in Vegan in NJ! Our potlucks are always way too long because we have such a good time, so I hope you can be there for it! If you RSVP on our Facebook event, the address will go out before the event. Make sure you're a member of our Facebook group because most of our events are private for just the group!

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view private events):

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
