This Week in NJ

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

Ever have one of those days that just leaves your heart so full? Yesterday was one of those days for me. If you missed our potluck in Neptune Twp, you really missed out! We had such a great time. As soon as it was over, the family that hosted us and I started to talk about hosting another one soon. Be on the lookout! We always list our upcoming meetups at the bottom of these blog posts. Make sure you're a member of our private Facebook group, otherwise you won't be able to view the events.

On Wednesday, Seed to Sprout is hosting a cooking class in Fair Haven for comfort foods. Last Wednesday was the same cooking class, but in their Avon location. Check out their website to RSVP and see the menu they will be teaching!

Friday, in Jersey City, there's a Fall Garden Dinner happening, hosted by chef Tere Fox (of Rockin Raw) and chef Pas Niratbhand that will be featuring cuisine form Peruvian and Thailand and CBD oil infusion. You can reserve your tickets here.

There's a couple Anonymous for the Voiceless events taking place this weekend, starting with the NYC chapter in Washington Square Park on Friday. The Jersey City chapter will be meeting at Two Boots in Jersey City on Saturday. Don't forget to wear all black and bring your devices (tablets, laptops, etc) pre-loaded with the footage that you can find in the events' and groups' descriptions. If you don't have a tablet or laptop to bring, please still show up!

Hamlette the Mini Pig is hosting a beach cleanup in Ortley Beach on Saturday. They will be providing gloves and garbage bags (and refreshments) and the Playa Bowls in Seaside is offering a discount to anyone who volunteered for the cleanup!

If you've read previous blogs, you know that NJveg hosts a bunch of events! They have a mailing list, so that you can keep up or you could check their events calendar. From 1-4 on Saturday, they will be doing outreach at Melvin Kreps Community Day in East Windsor. On Sunday, there will be a lunch at Greens and Grains in Shrewsbury. If you plan to go to these events or any future NJveg events, please RSVP by emailing njveg.org@gmail.com or calling 609-557-7077.

Farm Critter Haven in Egg Harbor Twp is hosting us, Vegan in NJ, for a potluck on Saturday! Please join our Facebook group to be able to view the event. If you're not on Facebook and interested in attending, please email me at cherise@veganinnj.com to tell us how many you're bringing and what dish you will be making. Otherwise, just RSVP on the event page! Even if you cannot go, please consider making a donation to this vegan animal sanctuary by clicking the donate button on their Facebook page.

Also on Saturday is a protest outside of the Wooster St Canada Goose in NYC. Canada Goose has been very outspoken about how they "ethically source" their down, fur, wool and shearling, but there is no ethical way to take someone's skin without their consent. Including animal skin and fur in clothing is just not needed in today's age with all the other options that we have that do not involve skinning and killing an animal. Please buy your clothing from an ethical vegan source.

Our beloved Freakin Vegan will be at the Howl-O-Ween Family Fest, hosted by Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary on Sunday. Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of senior dogs and ensuring that older dogs whose owners can no longer care for them will have a loving home for life. VGN MKT is hosting its monthly vegan pop up in Brooklyn on Sunday as well! Some vendors include Peaceful Provisions, Seitan's Helper, Jac & Jess Brand, How Delish, and more!

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view):

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
