This Week in NJ

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

It's OFFICIALLY fall and the farmer's markets are winding down, VegFests are approaching, and this is the week of the pop up dinners and cooking classes! There are 3 different dinners and 2 different cooking classes happening this week, so I hope you've got your stretchy pants ready.

On Monday, Cross & Orange in Asbury Park is hosting a pre fixe vegan pop up dinner (they are not an all vegan restaurant, so this is awesome!) prepared by Desired Dish. It's $65 and requires tickets to be bought ahead of time.

Monday through Thursday, Village Green Restaurant in Ridgefield has a pre fixe vegan menu available, with proceeds going to TevaLand Sanctuary Farm in Rockland County, NY. This special event is in honor of #RememberMeThursday to bring attention to the millions of adoptable animals living in shelters and remembering those who never got a second chance.

There are TWO cooking classes happening on Wednesday. One is free and hosted by Dean's Market in Basking Ridge. You can RSVP via their Eventbrite link off of their Facebook event. The other is hosted by Seed to Sprout in their Fair Haven location and requires a ticket ahead of time for $40. See their site for dishes being made!

This weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) is the Vegandale Food and Drink Festival at Randall's Island in NY. Vegandale also hosts events in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. There's one hell of a vendor list for this event, including some of our favorites: Bunny Treats, Raw Roots Cafe, Teeminder, Veggie Grub, Compassion Co, and SO MANY MORE.

NJveg is hosting a lunch meetup at Royal Paan in East Windsor on Saturday. Royal Paan is an all vegetarian place that is very vegan friendly! Please RSVP to njveg.org@gmail.com or 609-557-7077 by September 27. They are also hosting outreach at the Raritan River Festival on Sunday in New Brunswick. They would love more people on their outreach team, so contact them via email or by phone, listed above.

We, Vegan in NJ, are hosting our very first pop up dinner in Whippany, thanks to Snacking Lab lending us their space. You may know them as the parent company to Greencity Pops and Root Nine Baking Co (who is making their chocolate chip cookie debut at La Vodega Market on 10/3!). Our chef for the evening will be Naciye Emren, who is also known as The Baklava Lady. We will have a lovely mezze platter for appetizers, an incredible eggplant dish with some Turkish bread along side of rice and orzo with garbanzos, then a couple desserts to choose from. Everything will be served family style and we are encouraging everyone to be social and make some new vegan friends! You can find the full menu with details on the Facebook event, on the Eventbrite, on our events page, or right next to this paragraph!

On Sunday, the Ramsey Farmer's Market will be taking place, as it does every Sunday (until November 25), but this time, there's a vegan corner! REBL USA is hosting their second vegan corner and it will include vendors, such as Freakin Vegan, Om Sweet Home, Gone Pie, Samosa Shack, Deliciously Alicia's, Catskill Animal Sanctuary, and more! If you are a farmer's market go-er, I'd say this is the one to make the trip for!

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view):

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
